New Features in Blackboard 2014 | Academic Technologies

Dec 17, 2014

We will be upgrading to the latest version of Blackboard Learn™ 2014 over the holiday break.

While the user interface will be largely unchanged several existing features have been improved to make your day more efficient. Here is an overview of tools that you can expect to be using soon:

  • Portfolio Improvements:   Portfolios are now accessed from the global navigation and have a new authoring canvas that makes creation and editing much quicker. Instructors can create portfolio assignments.
  • SafeAssign Integration: SafeAssign is integrated into regular Learn assignments.  This means that all features from regular assignments will be available for SafeAssign assignments.  Specifically, you can now: use rubrics, attach files, allow multiple attempts,
  • Profiles:  The Enhanced Cloud Profile provides users with their first professional profiles. The added features help users demonstrate competencies they have developed through their educational journeys in a visual and uniquely /compelling way.
  • Anonymous Grading Improvement:  Instructors can hide student names from submitted assignments for anonymous grading.
  • Delegated Grading Improvement:  Instructors can delegate grading to specific users.
  • Frames Removed: Frames have been completely removed from the Learn application and replaced with HTML5 compliant DIVs and iFrames.  This change improves page printing, accessibility, and page navigation (you’re History list will now show descriptive titles of each page you visited, instead of every entry saying “Blackboard Learn”)
